Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare (Second Skin)

Thank you for trusting me with your tattoo. Proper aftercare is essential for achieving the best possible healed result. Please follow the instructions below carefully.

Your Second Skin Bandage

Your tattoo has been covered with a protective Second Skin bandage. This breathable barrier protects the tattoo from bacteria, friction, and contaminants while allowing the skin to heal.

It is normal to see a build-up of ink, blood, and plasma underneath the bandage. This can look alarming, but it is completely normal and part of the healing process.

The First 3–5 Days

Leave the Second Skin in place for 3–5 days unless otherwise advised.

Do not pick at the edges or attempt to drain any fluid trapped beneath the bandage.

You may shower as normal, but avoid soaking the tattoo in baths, hot tubs, swimming pools, or the sea.

Avoid excessive sweating, heavy exercise, and activities that may cause the bandage to lift.

If the bandage becomes damaged, develops a leak, or peels away exposing the tattoo, remove it immediately and begin standard aftercare.

Removing The Second Skin

After 3–5 days, remove the bandage under warm running water.

Gently stretch the film parallel to your skin rather than pulling it directly away from the body. This makes removal easier and more comfortable.

Once removed:

1. Wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.

2. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

3. Allow the tattoo to air dry for 10–15 minutes.

4. Apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free moisturiser.

After Bandage Removal

For the next 2–3 weeks:

- Wash the tattoo once or twice daily.

- Apply a small amount of fragrance-free moisturiser when needed.

- Avoid scratching, picking, or peeling any flaking skin.

- Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing where possible.

- Keep the tattoo clean and dry.
